Patriots' Stefon Diggs Reportedly 'Trending' Toward Week 1 Return from Knee Injury
New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who suffered a torn ACL in his right knee last October while with the Houston Texans, is reportedly "trending to being able to play" his new team's 2025 season opener on Sept. 7 at the Los Angeles Rams.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reported that news Wednesday while speaking on NBC Sports Boston's Arbella Early Edition.
Breer said he thinks Diggs will start training camp on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list. However, Breer further clarified that he thinks Diggs ends up being cleared to play "full-speed, 11-on-11" football before the end of August.

Diggs suffered the non-contact injury while he was running a route in the Texans' 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 27. He missed the remainder of the season. Diggs was having a productive campaign before being sidelined, catching 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing score as well.
Now the 10-year veteran is in New England on a three-year, $63.5 million deal ($22.6 million in total guarantees), per Over the Cap. The Pats are certainly counting on him to ignite an offense that finished 30th in the 32-team NFL in scoring last season.
New England has endured two straight 4-13 seasons and is now on its third head coach in three years in Mike Vrabel. The Pats broke the bank in the offseason in response, shoring up the defense (e.g. linebacker Robert Spillane, edge-rusher Harold Landry III, cornerback Carlton Davis III, defensive tackle Milton Williams) while adding some needed help on the line (e.g. offensive tackle Morgan Moses) and wideout (Diggs, Mack Hollins).
Diggs is a crucial part of a hopeful turnaround, and thankfully, signs are pointing toward him being good to go for Week 1.
