
Bodybuilding Legend Victor Martinez Recovering from Major Emergency Surgery
Retired IFBB professional bodybuilder Victor Martinez confirmed to Generation Iron that he's currently in the hospital recovering from emergency surgery.
"While the exact nature of the procedure remains undisclosed, Martinez disclosed that the situation was serious enough to require immediate medical intervention," Derek Dufour of Generation Iron wrote.
"Though still recovering and not yet ready to speak in full detail, Martinez has expressed that he will share more information as soon as he regains strength," Dufour added.

The 51-year-old, whose nickname is the "Dominican Dominator," enjoyed a phenomenal pro career, winning eight IFBB events. His first victory was at Night of Champions in 2003, and his most notable win was in 2007 at the Arnold Classic. Martinez was also victorious at Arnold Classic Madrid in 2011. His last win was at Muscle Mayhem in 2017.
Martinez also fared well at Mr. Olympia, competing at the famed event 11 times. He landed top-five finishes on four occasions, with finishes of third in 2006 and second in 2007.
He was ultimately a professional from 1994-2021. Following his competitive career, Martinez became the host of the Generation Iron podcast.
