Terry McLaurin Reportedly Could Skip Commanders' Training Camp Amid Contract Talks
Washington Commanders star receiver Terry McLaurin recently voiced his displeasure over the lack of progress toward a potential contract extension, and one insider feels this dispute could drag on for a while.
On Bleacher Report's live stream on Wednesday, NFL insider James Palmer revealed that there's a chance that McLaurin skips the start of training camp with the Commanders next week until his contract situation is sorted out.
"He's not sure if he's gonna show up for camp or not," Palmer said of McLaurin. "He didn't participate in any of the offseason activities... He hasn't gotten there yet, and I think this is important: he said, 'I'm gonna see how the rest of the week plays out.' What usually drives a lot of contracts [is] deadlines, and a deadline could be the start of training camp."

Biggest Questions Surrounding 2026 NFL Season After the Draft 🤔
Per ESPN's John Keim, McLaurin told reporters after shooting a commercial Tuesday, "Without any progress in discussions it's kind of hard to see how I step on the field." The 29-year-old is entering the final year of the three-year, $68 million extension he signed in 2022, and while he said he's not pushing for a trade, he made it clear that he's unhappy with how things have played out so far.
"He is very frustrated, he is very disappointed in the way that these negotiations have gone," Palmer said. "He doesn't know where they're valuing him right now. He questioned whether he's a part of the future. ... He said there's been really no communication or progress over the last month between the two sides."
McLaurin has been one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL over the past few years, so it's clear that he deserves to be paid as such. Time is running out for the Commanders to try to appease their star wideout before they turn their attention to preparing for the 2025 season.
