Fever's Caitlin Clark 'Excited' to Compete in 2025 WNBA 3-Point Contest

Scott PolacekJul 15, 2025

All eyes will be on Caitlin Clark during Friday's WNBA Three-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend in large part because she will be participating in front of the hometown fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

And she can't wait to compete, telling reporters she's "excited."

"Obviously, it's exciting," the Indiana Fever star told reporters Tuesday. "I've never participated in a three-point competition before, never practiced before. Just go out there and have fun, I think the lineup of people competing is tremendous."

The WNBA announced the full three-point contest field Tuesday, and Clark will be joined by four other headliners.

Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty, Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream, Kelsey Plum of the Los Angeles Sparks and Sonia Citron of the Washington Mystics are also in the field, which will pose quite the challenge for Clark.

After all, they are all sharpshooters from deep and Gray will be looking to defend her title from last year.

The Dream star also won the Skills Challenge last year and will be in the field this year to defend that crown as well:

But Clark will be the focal point.

The Indiana fans will surely be cheering for the Fever star, which should give her a boost in the competition. She's also known for her ability to drain shots from well beyond the arc and set a WNBA single-season rookie record with 122 three-pointers last year.

Those 122 threes also fell just six short of Ionescu's all-time league record that she set in 2023.

Perhaps the contest will also help Clark rediscover her form, as she has struggled at times during an injury-plagued second year in the league and is shooting just 28.9 percent from deep.

It will be part of a busy weekend for the hometown star, as she is one of the captains of the All-Star teams and will face Napheesa Collier's club since they were the top-two vote-getters.

The contest will take place Friday at 8 p.m. ET prior to Saturday's All-Star Game.
