Updated Sports-World Power Couple Rankings After Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift Engagement

Lee EscobedoJul 18, 2025

We live in an era when a red-carpet appearance can break news like a postgame presser and power couples can dominate the 24-hour sports news cycle. Nothing proved that more than the today's headline-making engagement of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce after two years together, a story that blurred the lines between pop culture and sports front-page news.

And before that, four-time NBA All-Star Klay Thompson seemed to confirm a relationship with rapper Megan Thee Stallion, turning a lot of heads:

Not to be outdone, WNBA rookie sensation revealed shortly after that she's dating former UConn teammate Azzi Fudd.

Combine all that with our love of a good list. While Klay-Meg and Paige-Azzi don't quite make the cut because of their newness as romantic duos, here is our revised list of the top 10 celebrity power couples across sports.

The catch? One half has to be in the sports world (we love rules). The other just needs to bring headlines—and followers.

10. Livvy Dunne and Paul Skenes

1 of 10
2025 BBWAA Awards Dinner

Livvy Dunne, former LSU gymnast and social media queen, has built one of the most lucrative personal brands in college sports. Paul Skenes, on the other hand, is your classic baseball savant: flame-throwing ace, camera-shy and hyper-focused on mowing down hitters.

She nails aerials; he throws 100 mph gas. Together, they form a tidy package of athletic dominance and mass appeal—Dunne drawing young female fans and advertisers, Skenes grabbing the attention of baseball purists.

They’ve done coordinated photo shoots. They pop up at camps. It’s all very #brandfriendly.

But, their relationship still has that new-car smell. With limited public history and even fewer viral moments as a couple, their current status is more promising than iconic. If they last, they could climb this list. For now, they just eked in the top 10, not because of any scandal or sizzle, but because there's simply not much there yet. Bland isn’t bad. It’s just not very clickable.

9. Bam Adebayo and A'ja Wilson

VIP Guests At Olympic Games Paris 2024: Day 16

Two of basketball’s most elite bigs—the Miami Heat's Bam Adebayo and Las Vegas Aces’ A’ja Wilson—spark curiosity as a rising couple. Adebayo, a two-way force and All-Star for the Heat, is a defensive anchor with an ever‑expanding offensive game.

Wilson, a two-time WNBA MVP and champion, is a force of nature inside, complemented by her off‑court advocacy of mental health and racial justice. Each stands at the top of their league at 25-27 years old, offering electric potential for collaborative influence. Their bond hints at shared workouts and in‑season visits, creating a narrative of NFL‑style dual-athlete couples.

They embody WNBA/NBA unity: showing solidarity between men’s and women’s leagues in both athletic and social realms. Their interests also align: philanthropy, youth empowerment, community development.

Still, the relative newness of their relationship places them toward the bottom of this list—for now. There’s a foundation for something truly special here, but the narrative is just beginning. As they evolve together, on and off the court, they may rise into the upper tier of sports’ most iconic partnerships.

8. Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf

Tennis royalty doesn’t get more iconic than Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, whose marriage spans nearly three decades and binds two Hall of Fame careers. Individually, Agassi revolutionized men's tennis with charisma, colorful style and eight Grand Slam titles.

Graf is arguably the most dominant women’s tennis player in history—22 Grand Slam titles, a mind-blowing 377 weeks as world No. 1. Agassi is a cultural icon of ‘90s tennis with a career Grand Slam, a book that slapped (Open) and a revival arc that turned him into one of the sport’s most respected figures.

Together, they’ve built a marriage that somehow dodged the usual celebrity traps: no scandals, no headlines, no thirst traps.

They’ve poured themselves into philanthropy—Agassi’s foundation reshaping education in Las Vegas, Graf showing up at youth tournaments and charity events. Their kids, Jaden and Jaz, live blissfully off the grid, as if raised in a protective force field powered by Nike and privacy.

You almost forget they exist unless it’s Wimbledon legends’ box week. Their love story is arguably the gold standard in the sports world: stable and graceful. They’re not higher on this list because they don’t really want to be seen. No messy drama, just decades of low-key greatness.

7. Ciara and Russell Wilson

Chelsea FC v Paris Saint-Germain: Final - FIFA Club World Cup 2025

If there’s a modern JFK and Jackie O in sports and entertainment, it’s Ciara and Russell Wilson. She’s a Grammy-winning pop star and fashion entrepreneur who can light up a runway. He’s a Super Bowl champion and Pro Bowl quarterback with a chin made for GQ covers.

Together? Gorgeous, glossy, God-fearing and bankable as hell.

Since tying the knot in 2016, they’ve managed to thrive across industries—Ciara dropping hits, launching fashion lines and stealing red carpets while Wilson called audibles in Seattle, Denver and Pittsburgh (with varying levels of success). But the marriage has been bulletproof. They have combined their powers for much good, from their Why Not You Foundation’s focus on education and health to their family-first, faith-forward public image.

And unlike most celebrity duos held together with contracts and hashtags, these two actually like each other.

6. Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman

Day Four: The Championships - Wimbledon 2025

Tennis upstart Ben Shelton and soccer phenom Trinity Rodman are Gen Z’s answer to “power couple." Shelton armed with a howitzer of a serve and a breakout U.S. Open run—is the heir to tennis legacy Bryan Shelton but carries himself with collegiate cool.

Rodman is the daughter of Dennis Rodman. She’s inherited all the swag and charm of her Hall of Fame dad, just with far more focus and far fewer suspensions.

While Rodman torches defenders in the NWSL and rocks the USWNT crest, Shelton plays the stoic counterpart: calm in pressers, lethal on the court. They’ve been dating since 2023, she’s in the stands at the U.S. Open, he’s behind her through the whirlwind of media and international play.

They’re tailor-made for wellness, tech, or that next limited-edition collab drop.

5. Stephen and Ayesha Curry

6 of 10
The World Premiere Of Universal Pictures' "NOPE" - Arrivals

Stephen and Ayesha Curry are the undisputed king and queen of wholesome overachievement. Together, they blend MVP trophies with cooking shows, charity galas and a relentless stream of matching family outfits.

Steph, of course, is a generational talent: the NBA’s three-point god, a four-time champion and the man who casually changed basketball forever with the three-point shot. Ayesha, meanwhile, has built an empire of her own: TV personality, cookbook author, entrepreneur and lifestyle guru.

Together, they are brand synergy incarnate. From launching their "Eat. Learn. Play." Foundation to grinning through ad campaigns for everything from cookware to crypto, they’ve perfected the balance of philanthropy and curated family life.

They promote faith, togetherness and community—often while wearing coordinated neutrals and staring lovingly at each other for the camera. It’s sweet. It’s inspiring. It’s also...kind of exhausting.

Yes, they’re admirable. Yes, they’re gorgeous. Yes, their kids are adorable and Steph's jump shot is a divine gift. But sometimes the relentless positivity feels like it was assembled in a content lab. Still, there’s no denying their impact on the court, in the kitchen and across pop culture.

4. Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens

Gymnastics superstar Simone Biles is unmatched in her sport, and dating NFL cornerback Jonathan Owens adds another dimension to her dominance. A seven-time Olympic gold medalist and multiple world champion, Biles navigates public life with poise while being attacked on social media by trolls.

Owens, making his mark with the Houston Texans after a stint on Hard Knocks, brings football toughness and mental-health advocacy to the table.

Together, they illustrate two sides of resilience: Biles famously withdrew from Olympic competition in 2021 because of the "twisties" and was outspoken about mental well-being, while Owens publicly discusses anxiety and depression.

Their relationship sends a powerful message: Elite athletes who prioritize mental health are both strong and vulnerable and can lean on each other in healing. They’ve even collaborated off-camera to promote mental-health organizations and encourage therapy.

Biles is arguably the greatest gymnast of all time, and Owens brings quiet strength that complements her spotlight. In a world obsessed with perfection and performance, they’ve chosen something far more radical: honesty. That’s why they belong in the top four—their relationship challenges the culture around it.

3. Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird

8 of 10
ION's Fan ConnectION

Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird earn the third spot as the best-dressed couple on any red carpet, sports gala, or sneaker-drop Instagram grid. Their shared résumé includes World Cup wins, Olympic golds, championship rings, and enough social justice credentials to make half of Congress look underqualified.

Rapinoe, a former U.S. women's soccer star, brings fiery fearlessness and rainbow hair to the world stage, using her spotlight to champion LGBTQ+ rights, pay equity, and racial justice.

Bird, who was always composed and surgically precise on the court, brings the same calm authority to her activism (and her tailoring) that she did for 21 years with the Seattle Storm. Together, they show how to lead without looking like you're trying too hard.

Rapinoe and Bird are the blueprint for a modern power couple. With more gold medals and championships than most Olympic nations, their shared résumé borders on unfair. These two influence—backed by decades of elite performance and a track record of using their platforms for something bigger than a brand deal.

2. Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods

9 of 10
Fashion Scholarship Fund 88th Annual Gala Honoring Jerry Lorenzo, Sara And Erin Foster, And Tony Spring, Co-Hosted By Christian Siriano And Coco Rocha - Arrivals

Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods deserve recognition not just for their combined star power but also for how they've navigated public life with a depth and dignity that transcends celebrity optics.

Towns is an All-Star and All-NBA player, but he's also a man who has endured staggering loss, including the death of his mother, Jacqueline, because of COVID-19 in 2020. Since then, he's carried himself with a quiet strength.

Woods, too, has weathered a brutal media cycle and emerged as a multifaceted force in fashion, wellness, and advocacy. Together, they've been a model of mutual healing. Whether standing arm-in-arm at charity events or sharing moments of raw honesty online, they've shown what real partnership under pressure looks like.

And they've had to do so in the face of unfounded speculation at times. In a world eager to reduce everything to soundbites, they've responded not with clapbacks but composure.

Beyond the emotion, there's ambition. Jordyn's media savvy and business instincts are a perfect match for KAT's rising sports and philanthropic profile. They may not be the flashiest couple on the list, but when it comes to heart and hustle, few come close.

1. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

10 of 10
2025 Stanley Cup Final - Game Four

Few celebrity pairings have so thoroughly hijacked the American media cycle as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Their engagement only cements what already felt inevitable: in the simulation we all inhabit, there was never any other possible No. 1.

Swift is the world's most streamed pop star, a one-woman global economy whose lyrics bend social media algorithms and ticketing platforms alike. Kelce is a Super Bowl–winning tight end who, upon dating her, became more than a Super Bowl winning chad. Together they embody the twin engines of American cultural production—music and sports—running in perfect synchronization.

Every appearance is both romance and rollout. The optics are so seamless, so sticky, it's become its own terrifyingly efficient media cult: hyper-online, over-caffeinated, impossible to mute.

None of this is to diminish Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods, whose philanthropic commitments and embodiment of Black excellence stand as a model for what celebrity influence should look like. In another matrix, they might reign. But here, in this particular simulation, the algorithm bends toward Taylor and Travis.

Because this isn't about sincerity. It's about cultural omnipresence. They dominate on ubiquity. They're on your phone, your television, your algorithm, your Jumbotron.

The machine runs. And right now, Taylor and Travis are its face.
