Yankees' Aaron Judge Says MLB Using Team Uniforms in All-Star Game Is 'Good Move'
MLB is moving back to allowing players to wear their own uniforms for the All-Star game this year, and New York Yankees star Aaron Judge said he's a fan of that move.
Judge said that he has "voiced his opinion" on the matter in recent years and is happy to see the change.
"I thought that was something that was very special to me in my first All-Star, getting the chance to wear the Yankee uniform and go out there and represent New York," Judge said. "So I just kind of thought about all the first-time All-Stars the past couple seasons not getting the chance to represent their team and represent their city... I think it was a good move on (Rob) Manfred to bring it back."

Having specific jerseys for the American and National League All-Star teams is a bit rare. MLB allowed players to wear their own uniforms from 1930 to 2019 before making the switch to All-Star-specific jerseys.
While All-Stars will wear their own jerseys during the actual game, there were still All-Star jerseys made this year, and those uniforms were worn during Gatorade Workout Day and the Home Run Derby. Players participating in the Home Run Derby wore their own uniforms, but the players spectating rocked the All-Star jerseys.
Though Judge said that voicing his opinion didn't lead to the change, it's likely that he and other star players calling for the return to wearing team jerseys carried plenty of weight when the decision was made.
While getting a specific jersey for the All-Star game certainly makes it a bit more unique, seeing players wear their own uniforms likely makes it more special for fans.
"I think it's something cool for the fans, too," Judge said. "I remember as a kid turning on all the old All-Star Games and seeing my favorite players decked out in their uniforms. I think it will be pretty cool and I can't wait to see it tonight."
Judge and the AL All-Stars will take on the NL All-Stars at 8 p.m. ET on Monday. The American League has won 10 of the past 11 All-Star Games, and they'll look to continue their success this year.
