Napheesa Collier Voted Best in WNBA in Player Poll, Caitlin Clark Gets 0 Votes
Napheesa Collier is having the best season of her career, and her peers are noticing.
In an anonymous poll among WNBA players by The Athletic's Sabreena Merchant and Ben Pickman, the Minnesota Lynx star was voted the best player in the league. She received 17 of 36 votes, with Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson receiving 15 and New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart getting two. Allisha Gray and Alyssa Thomas were the only other players to receive a vote, getting one apiece.
While Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has had a strong second season, she isn't getting best-in-the-league honors from her peers just yet.

It's not much of a surprise to see Collier named the best player in the WNBA by other players considering the season she's having. She's leading the league with 23.6 points per game and is averaging the fifth-most boards at 7.9 per game.
She also has the Lynx looking like one of the best teams in basketball at 18-4 this year.
Wilson, who won her third MVP a season ago, is also having a great year, putting up 21.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, but her Aces have struggled, going 10-11 so far this season. While the 28-year-old Wilson is still in her prime, Collier might have a slight edge on her this year.
Stewart has been dominating the league for nearly a decade now, but she's still in the conversation for the best player in the WNBA. She's managed to stay consistent throughout her career and is dropping 19.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this year.
Stewart's Liberty, fresh off a championship, are 14-6 on the year.
While Clark isn't getting recognition as the best player in the league just yet, it likely won't be long before her name is in the mix alongside players like Collier, Wilson and Stewart.
Though she's missed some time with injuries this year, Clark is putting up 16.7 points and 9.0 assists per game, the second-most in the league.
