49ers' Jauan Jennings Reportedly Wants New Contract or Trade Amid Brandon Aiyuk Injury

Zach BacharJul 14, 2025

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings wants a new contract or a trade, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Jennings is about to enter the final season of a two-year deal worth up to $15.4 million that he signed with San Francisco in 2024. He's set to receive $7.5 million during his 2025 campaign.

Schefter reported that the receiver's previous agreement with the 49ers "does not change how Jennings feels about this year."

San Francisco's wide receiver depth is already thinning, as Brandon Aiyuk's status for the start of the 2025 season is uncertain as he recovers from knee surgery.

Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Oct. 2024.

Per Schefter, Jennings has approached the 49ers regarding a new deal but "little progress" was made. If a new contract is not agreed upon by the time training camp starts on July 22, the wideout plans to request a trade to "a team willing to pay him."

Jennings isn't expected to be a training camp holdout but is "not expected to be happy" either, via Schefter. Meanwhile, the 49ers "feel they have treated him fairly."

Jennings wrapped up a breakout season in 2024, hauling in a career-high 77 receptions for 975 yards and six touchdowns across 15 games. He established himself as a consistent target for Brock Purdy, racking up at least seven catches in six games.

The 28-year-old stepped up for a San Francisco squad that dealt with injuries to several key players, particularly at the wide receiver position. Aiyuk, Ricky Pearsall and Deebo Samuel all missed multiple games.

While a healthier group of wideouts may result in a decreased total of targets for Jennings, he should still have a consistent role in the 49ers' offense after the team dealt Samuel to the Washington Commanders in March.

If Jennings doesn't receive a new contract from San Francisco, his time with the team could be coming to an end.
