Gary is coming off a career year. He totaled 47 tackles, 7.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss en route to receiving his first Pro Bowl nod. No edge-rusher had a higher win rate (37.1 percent) against run-blocking, according to ESPN.com.
Gary's four-year, $96 million extension went into effect in 2024. When he signed the deal back in October 2023, he reflected how he'd only be more motivated to deliver on the field.
"Man, it just makes me hungrier," Gary said. "The organization that believed in me, trusted me, and sees my growth from when I came in, and see the man that I'm still becoming and the player that I'm working to become and still on the rise to become."
The 2019 first-round pick certainly lived up to those words last season, and his NFL peers took notice.
Players around the NFL also paid attention Prescott's disappointing season as he fell from No. 16 in the 2024 ranking.
A partial tear of his hamstring sidelined the three-time Pro Bowler for Dallas' final nine games, with the Cowboys finishing 7-10 and missing the playoffs. His performance before getting hurt was also below his usual standards.
Prescott threw for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. His passer rating (86.0) and QBR (45.3) were both career lows, per Pro Football Reference. That's not the kind of production Dallas wanted to see after signing him to a $240 million extension.
The Cowboys didn't transform their offense this offseason, but George Pickens gives Prescott another option in the air alongside CeeDee Lamb. Between now having Pickens and hopefully staying healthy, it may be enough for him to rebound in 2025.
