Blue Jays, Orioles Reportedly 'Front-Runners' to Host 2028 MLB All-Star Game

Timothy RappJul 13, 2025

The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles are reportedly the "front-runners" to host the 2028 MLB All-Star Game, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

The Philadelphia Phillies are hosting the 2026 edition, while the Chicago Cubs will host in 2027 at the legendary Wrigley Field. The Atlanta Braves are hosting this week's All-Star festivities.

Nightengale noted that the Cubs will officially announce their 2027 hosting duties on July 30. It will be Wrigley Field's fourth time hosting the All-Star Game, the most among any MLB venue in history. Fenway Park and Angel Stadium have each hosted the event three times.

Baltimore has hosted the All-Star Game just twice in MLB history (1958, 1993), while Toronto has only hosted once, back in 1991. New York City has hosted the most times in the sport (nine), followed by Chicago (2027 will be its eighth time) and Cleveland (six).

Camden Yards is considered one of the nicer stadiums in baseball, making it a potential idyllic grounds for the event, while Toronto has gone 34 years without a hosting gig and is certainly due. It wouldn't be a surprise if the city that didn't win the bid in 2028 became the frontrunner for 2029.

As for the game itself, the American League currently holds the advantage in the series over the National League by a tight 48-44-2 margin but has won 10 of the last 11 matchups and 22 of the past 27 contests.
