Goldberg, Real Winners and Losers of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event XL Match Card

Kevin BergeJul 12, 2025

From the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, the latest Saturday Night's Main Event delivered the final chapter of Goldberg's wrestling career and a series of personal rivalry matches.

The Myth completed his final match in WWE, battling Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. He did his best to make the most of his moment and loss.

Seth Rollins suffered an unfortunate ankle injury in his battle with LA Knight, but it was still an impactful victory for The Million Dollar Megastar.

With help from MFT, Solo Sikoa successfully defended his United States Championship for the first time against Jimmy Uso.

Drew McIntyre could not stay focused in his battle with Randy Orton thanks to Jelly Roll at ringside and lost to The Viper.

This was a night focused on the top stars on WWE that delivered multiple important results.

Loser: Drew McIntyre

1 of 4

After an extended break, Drew McIntyre returned to make a statement at the expense of Randy Orton.

Instead, thanks to a mess at ringside including Jelly Roll, The Viper put The Scottish Warrior away with an RKO.

Once again, it feels like McIntyre is going nowhere as one of the most talented heels on the roster.

The SummerSlam tag team match with Logan Paul and McIntyre teaming up against Orton and Jelly Roll is certain to be won by the celebrity country singer.

There is no path forward immediately for The Scottish Warrior to get back into the title scenes, and he is too talented to be out of that picture.

Winner: Solo Sikoa

Solo Sikoa winning the United States Championship from Jacob Fatu was not a popular decision.

Fatu has become a major crowd favorite and did not have much chance to run with his first WWE title.

However, the former Tribal Chief has done a solid job so far selling why he and his group MFT as a force in WWE.

He delivered a solid match against Jimmy Uso and continued his momentum ahead of a likely SummerSlam rematch against Fatu.

For the first time since he lost to Roman Reigns at the start of the year, Sikoa has momentum building.

Winner: LA Knight

3 of 4

While it would be nice to just focus on an all-important victory for LA Knight, Seth Rollins' likely ankle injury puts a damper on the conversation about this match.

The Visionary has been rising to main event status since his huge win on Night 1 of WrestleMania 41. His Money in the Bank victory set the stage for a world title win soon.

The abrupt end to the match after his injury likely indicates a serious ankle injury that could sideline him for a while.

Moving past the unfortunate news, Knight's victory will stand as a huge moment for him, putting away a past and future world champion.

He may be able to build momentum from this and even capture the World Heavyweight Championship.

It would be appropriate for The Visionary to look to cash-in on Knight when he is able to return, allowing The Million Dollar Megastar the time to shine at the top with his first world title run.

Winner: Goldberg

4 of 4

Goldberg made clear for several years that he wanted one last match to end his career, and WWE finally gave it to him in Atlanta.

This match sold the dominant force that The Myth was throughout his career and what still made him dangerous even to Gunther.

It was a cleverly composed final outing for Goldberg, pushing one of the best in modern wrestling without simply squashing him.

Gunther's in-ring mastery certainly helped, but few have sold a more complete match with The Ring General over the years.

Goldberg was always going to lose this for many reasons. The result though mattered less than the impact.

At the end of the show, WWE sold the idea that this was truly the end of the road for a legend of the business, which is exactly what The Myth wanted.
