
White Sox Legend Paul Konerko Gifted Signed Jersey By Pope Leo XIV
Chicago White Sox icon Paul Konerko received a unique gift on Saturday.
Before the team's matchup with the Cleveland Guardians, Konerko was presented with a jersey signed by Pope Leo XIV from Cardinal Blase Cupich, the archbishop of Chicago. The uniform had his last name as well as "Pope Leo" above the No. 14.

The White Sox were celebrating the 20th anniversary of their World Series-winning squad in 2005. Konerko earned American League Championship Series MVP honors during Chicago's postseason run the culminated in the team capturing the Commissioner's Trophy.
Robert Francis Prevost, who took the name Leo XIV, became the first American Pope when he was elected on May 8.
Prevost was born in Chicago and is a White Sox fan, as he was in attendance for the opening game of the 2005 World Series.
Konerko earned six All-Star nods during his 16 years with the White Sox from 1999 through 2014. He sits at No. 3 on Chicago's all-time hits list and No. 2 on the team's all-time home runs leaderboard.
