Julio Rodriguez Withdraws From 2025 MLB All-Star Game to 'Take Care' of His Body
Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodríguez announced his decision to withdraw from the 2025 MLB All-Star Game on Friday.
"As much as I'd love to be out there, I want to take this time to take care of my body and fully prepare for the second half of the season," Rodríguez said in a statement posted on X.

The 24-year-old told reporters that he felt different at the 2025 All-Star break both physically and mentally compared to past years.
Rodríguez will be replaced on the American League All-Star roster by Mariners teammate Randy Arozarena, per Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle.
Rodríguez has earned All-Star honors in three of the first four years of his MLB career, although he hasn't blown past expectations this season.
He's slashing .244/.301/.386 with 11 home runs and 15 doubles to go along with 44 RBIs in 92 games during his 2025 campaign. Rodríguez has also posted a .687 OPS, which would be a career-low mark over the course of a full season.
The 2022 AL Rookie of the Year has struggled at the plate recently, recording a .190 batting average with one home run across his past 25 games.
It's worth noting that Rodríguez has been hampered by ankle and back issues throughout the first half of the season.
Despite his recent slump, the Mariners remain in the AL postseason race with a 48-45 record. Arozarena has been a key piece of Seattle's lineup throughout the year, racking up 15 homers and 20 doubles to go along with an OPS of .800.
He'll join Andrés Muñoz, Bryan Woo and Cal Raleigh as the Mariners' other All-Stars this year.
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will be on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET.
