2025 MLB Mock Draft Predictions and Breaking Down Top Prospects
The Washington Nationals have a choice to make at the top of the 2025 MLB draft.
The Nationals can either land one of the top collegiate pitchers, or go after Ethan Holliday, the younger brother of Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday.
College southpaws Kade Anderson of LSU and Tennessee's Liam Doyle are the primary pitching prospects in the 2025 draft class.
One of those three players should be the top pick on Sunday. Whether they go 1-2-3 is dependent on the decisions made by the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners at Nos. 2 and 3.

Kade Anderson, LHP, LSU
2 of 4
Kade Anderson is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the 2025 MLB draft class by ESPN's Kiley McDaniel.
Anderson solidified his spot at the top of the prospect board with a strong run through the NCAA baseball tournament, including a terrific start in the College World Series championship series.
Anderson will be on a faster track to the majors compared to Holliday, a high-school hitter who will need time to develop in the minors.
Washington could use another promising arm in its farm system. Only five of its top 14 prospects are pitchers, per MLB.com.
A future rotation led by Anderson and current top prospects Jarlin Susana, Travis Sykora and Cade Cavalli combined with MacKenzie Gore could make the Nationals a formidable team in the National League in a few years.
Anderson would also be the perfect pick to reboot the franchise after it fired general manager Mike Rizzo and manager Davey Martinez.
Ethan Holliday, IF, Stillwater HS (OK)
3 of 4
Ethan Holliday is the top prep prospect in the draft class.
The son of former MLBer Matt Holliday and brother of Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday is rated as McDaniel's No. 2 overall prospect.
MLB.com's Jim Callis mocked Holliday to the Colorado Rockies, one of his dad's former teams, at No. 4 behind three pitchers.
Colorado would be the dream scenario for Holliday and the Rockies, but he might not get that far.
Holliday will be in the mix for Washington's top pick and the Mariners at No. 3. The Angels have a recent track record of drafting college arms, so that seems like the least likely landing spot for Holliday in the top four.
The one guarantee surrounding Holliday is that he will be a top four pick. Colorado can't afford to pass up on a hitter of his quality at No. 4.
Liam Doyle, LHP, Tennessee
4 of 4
Liam Doyle seems like the perfect fit for the Los Angeles Angels.
The Angels have a track record of taking collegiate pitchers, and collegiate players as a whole in the first round.
Reid Detmers, Zach Neto, Nolan Schanuel and Christian Moore all experienced fast ascensions through the minor-league ranks to the big-league club after their recent first-round selections.
While Moore was the first-round pick in 2024, the Angels selected eight pitchers with their first 10 picks.
Pitching is the focus for them and Doyle fits the profile of a potential early riser through the minors.
Doyle could fall past the Angels if Anderson isn't the No. 1 overall pick, but if the LSU hurler is off the board first, there's a good chance Doyle lands with the Halos.
