Final Predictions for WWE Saturday Night's Main Event XL, Evolution 2025 Match Cards

Chris MuellerJul 11, 2025

WWE will stage three major events this weekend. Evolution 2 and NXT's Great American Bash will take place in addition to another edition of Saturday Night's Main Event.

In what is being billed as Goldberg's final match, the former WCW mainstay will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship on Saturday.

The feud between LA Knight and Seth Rollins has been heating up for weeks, and they will finally step into the ring to settle their differences. We will also see Randy Orton take on Drew McIntyre in what is sure to be a fun encounter at SNME.

On Sunday, the women's division will take center stage with Evolution 2. Multiple titles will be on the line, and a few other stipulations have been added in to create excitement.

Let's go through each bout and make some predictions.

WWE's Big Weekend

1 of 8

—Iyo Sky vs. Rhea Ripley (Women's World Championship)

Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre

2 of 8
SmackDown

Between 2020 and 2021, Orton and McIntyre fought in several matches, but the four years since have only seen them lock horns once, so this pairing doesn't feel stale right now.

In fact, this could be the first bout in an extended feud if WWE doesn't have championship plans for either man in the near future.

The Viper was mad at Cody Rhodes following King of the Ring, but not mad enough to turn on him, so he needs to take his aggression out on someone.

This is going to be one of the more physical matches of the night, and that will likely lead to it being one of the most entertaining.

It feels like WWE is toying with the idea of turning Orton heel again, and a great way to kick-start that journey would be for him to throw a fit after losing this bout. It would set him on a path toward facing Rhodes again, and it would give McIntyre a needed victory so he can build his own momentum, too.

Prediction: McIntyre defeats Orton

LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins

3 of 8
SmackDown

Rollins winning Money in the Bank has given him a gold ticket in his pursuit of a world title, but Knight seems hellbent on making his life difficult.

The Megastar is still one of the most over acts in WWE right now, but he is still just shy of being at the level of The Visionary.

As great as it would be to see Knight get a clean win here, it's not going to happen. Not only is Rollins always willing to cheat, but he has Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker in support to ensure he has the upper hand.

The only way this match ends with Knight winning is if someone from Rollins' group turns on him, which seems unlikely due to the young age of the faction.

Rollins is going to get the win and Knight will probably be left lying in the ring after a Spear and Tsunami from Mr. MITB's minions.

Prediction: Rollins defeats Knight

Gunther vs. Goldberg

4 of 8
Monday Night RAW

Goldberg is looking to end his career on a high note this week when he faces Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.

There has been some genuine concern among some fans that WWE might actually have the former WCW champion dethrone The Ring General, but it's doubtful.

It's always ideal when a wrestler gets to choose when they end their career because so many have had that choice taken away from them by injuries or worse, so Goldberg getting to have his swan song on his own terms is great.

Unfortunately for him, he is going to leave SNME without gold around his waist. WWE may have given Jey Uso a relatively short reign before he dropped the belt to Gunther, so it's highly unlikely The Ring General would have an even shorter run right after him.

Gunther is going to retain the belt, and much like he did with Pat McAfee, he will probably show his opponent respect before leaving Goldberg to say goodbye to the fans in his hometown of Atlanta.

Prediction: Gunther defeats Goldberg

Iyo Sky vs. Rhea Ripley

5 of 8
Monday Night RAW

Sky and Ripley have had several encounters in the past, but Sunday may be their biggest match to date when they fight for the women's world title at Evolution.

The Eradicator has been trying to find her way back to the top ever since she lost the title to Sky during the premier of Raw on Netflix in January.

Since then, The Genius of the Sky has fended off all challengers, but it feels like she might not leave this weekend with the belt.

Ripley continues to be one of the most popular stars in the entire company without the title, but WWE management clearly sees her as a priority, so it would make perfect sense for her to win back the belt this weekend.

Evolution needs some memorable moments to stand out, and there are few things bigger than one of the top championships changing hands.

Prediction: Ripley defeats Sky

Jade Cargill vs. Naomi

6 of 8
SmackDown

Evolution will have some titles on the line, but the most personal bout on the card will see Cargill taking on Naomi.

These two have been bitter enemies since The Glow attacked Cargill last November in order to take her place alongside Bianca Belair as one of the women's tag team champions.

Since then, Naomi has embraced her villainous side and become one of the more interesting characters in WWE while also winning the women's Money in the Bank briefcase.

However, The Storm is a woman on a mission, and she is going to end up getting her revenge on Sunday when she beats her rival in a No Holds Barred match.

Naomi has a guaranteed title shot in her hands, so she can afford the loss. Cargill will gain much more by scoring the victory.

Prediction: Cargill defeats Naomi

Becky Lynch vs. Bayley vs. Lyra Valkyria

7 of 8
Monday Night RAW

Becky Lynch winning the women's intercontinental title from Valkyria and cementing herself as a heel once again has led us to this match.

Not only will The Man have to contend with the woman she turned on at WrestleMania 41, but she is also going to have Bayley gunning for her.

Unfortunately for the challengers, this is going to work in Lynch's favor. The most likely outcome to this bout will see Valkyria and Bayley failing to take the belt from the champion because they are too distracted by each other to focus on winning.

We have seen this happen numerous times before. A champion enters a Triple Threat looking like the underdog only for the other two competitors to make it impossible for either to win.

It's a well-worn formula that will lead to Lynch retaining in the end.

Prediction: Lynch defeats Valkyria and Bayley

The Rest of the Evolution Card

8 of 8
SmackDown

Jacy Jayne vs. Jordynne Grace

The usual standards for title reigns on the main roster don't always apply to NXT, so a shorter reign is not uncommon. Even though Jayne hasn't had the NXT women's title for long, it feels like Sunday will be the day when Grace defeats her for the belt.

Prediction: Grace defeats Jayne

Tiffany Stratton vs. Trish Stratus

Stratus is returning to WWE to take on Stratton for the WWE women's title. While it's always fun to see a mentor and protégé fight, the outcome here feels obvious. The Center of the Universe will retain the belt, and Stratus will raise her hand to show respect.

Prediction: Stratton defeats Stratus

Women's Tag Team Championship Match

The women's tag title bout has three teams set to challenge The Judgment Day for the belts. Roxanne Perez is replacing an injured Liv Morgan as Raquel Rodriguez's co-champion, but they won't have to worry about that for long. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are going to win the titles and have a short odd-couple reign before one turns on the other.

Prediction: Flair and Bliss win the tag titles
