Raquel & Roxanne Retain WWE Women's Tag Titles at Evolution amid Liv Morgan Injury

Mike ChiariJul 13, 2025

Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez defeated The Kabuki Warriors, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, and Sol Ruca and Zaria in a Fatal 4-Way tag team match at Evolution on Sunday to retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

The match ended when Zaria inadvertently hit the spear on Ruca, allowing Gonzalez and Perez to take over and retain their titles.

Rodriguez and Liv Morgan had been set to enter Evolution as the women's tag champs, but Morgan injured her shoulder during a match against Kairi Sane on the June 16 episode of Raw, landing her on the shelf for months.

Rather than stripping Raquel and Liv of the titles, Raw general manager Adam Pearce and SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis allowed Perez to step in as Rodriguez's new partner.

However, that decision came with a stipulation, as Raquel and Roxanne would have to prove themselves as a team by defending the titles against one team from each of Raw, SmackDown and NXT at Evolution.

Charlotte and Alexa were the first challenging team to earn a spot in the match by beating The Secret Hervice and the team of Michin and B-Fab in a Triple Threat tag team match on SmackDown to qualify.

Prior to teaming up, Flair and Bliss interacted backstage on several occasions, leading to Bliss requesting that Aldis allow them to team up. Charlotte was reluctant, but she ultimately agreed since it gave her a path to a title match at Evolution.

As the top women's tag team on NXT, Ruca and Zaria were granted a spot in the match as well, leaving one spot available by the time the go-home episode of Raw took place.

Kairi Sane beat Perez in a singles match on that show, leading to Roxanne and Raquel attacking her in retaliation. Asuka then made her way to the ring to save her longtime friend and tag team partner.

Although Asuka and Kairi had not teamed up as The Kabuki Warriors in well over a year, Pearce added them to the tag title match at Evolution in order to give them the opportunity to get revenge on Rodriguez and Perez.

Raquel and Roxanne were faced with a huge challenge at Evolution against three of the best women's tag teams WWE has to offer, but they came out on top and proved their value as a tandem despite only recently joining forces.
