Jacob Misiorowski Talks Clayton Kershaw Comments, Hopes Dodgers Star 'Knows Me Now'

Adam WellsJul 9, 2025

Milwaukee Brewers phenom Jacob Misiorowski sent a loud and clear message to Clayton Kershaw on Tuesday night when the rookie struck out 12 over six innings in a 3-1 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Misiorowski joked he hopes Kershaw "knows me now."

The comment was a reference to Kershaw, who started for the Dodgers opposite Misiorowski, saying earlier in the day he didn't know who he was pitching against.

Kershaw's comments did suggest he knew who Misiorowski was going into the game, but couldn't recall his name. He did remember it after the game was over, showering praise on Misiorowski.

Misiorowski pitched five no-hit innings in his MLB debut on June 12 against the St. Louis Cardinals, but he was removed in the sixth inning after rolling his ankle on the mound.

The Brewers said Misiorowski was pulled due to cramping in his right calf and quadriceps. He was given a few extra days of rest before making his second start on June 20.

There haven't been many hiccups for Misiorowski to start his career. The right-hander allowed five runs in 3.2 innings against the New York Mets in his last start prior to Tuesday.

Misiorowski seemed to learn from that outing because he responded with his most dominant appearance to date. The 23-year-old struck out 12 and allowed one run on four hits to beat the reigning World Series champs.

Misiorowski has a 2.81 ERA with 33 strikeouts and 12 hits allowed in 25.2 innings through his first five starts. He has thrown at least five innings in four of his first five appearances.

Per Baseball Savant, Misiorowski threw 21 pitches against the Dodgers that hit 100 mph on the radar gun. The fastest was clocked at 101.6 mph, which Shohei Ohtani fouled off.

The Brewers are 16-7 in the 23 games since Misiorowski's debut. They have moved into the No. 2 wild-card spot in the NL and trail the Chicago Cubs by 2.5 games for first place in the NL Central.
