WNBA All-Star Game 2025 Rosters Announced After Caitlin Clark vs. Collier Draft

Scott PolacekJul 8, 2025

The returns are in on Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier's joint venture into the world of roster building and general management.

The Indiana Fever and Minnesota Lynx stars were the top two vote-getters for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, which made them the captains in charge of drafting their respective rosters.

Clark had the first pick Tuesday as the leading vote-getter, which gave her the chance to start building the roster she will captain in front of the home fans during the game at Indianapolis' Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday, July 19.

Perhaps the biggest twist of the draft came at the end when the captains traded coaches. That means New York Liberty coach Sandy Brondello will lead Team Clark, while Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve will lead Team Collier.

With the game happening in Indiana, it wasn't a stretch to assume Clark would look to target her Fever teammates in the draft. If nothing else, that would make choosing which All-Star team to cheer for that much easier for the fans in attendance.

And she wasted little time making her intentions clear when she selected Aliyah Boston with her first overall pick.

Boston has been a double-double threat every time she steps on the court this season and is averaging 16.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks a night while shooting 59.7 percent from the field. She and Clark already have established chemistry, which could prove crucial in an All-Star Game setting where so many players are taking the court alongside unfamiliar faces.

Clark's decision to pick her teammate gave Collier the rest of the board for the No. 2 overall pick, and she responded by selecting Breanna Stewart.

Stewart was anything but a surprising pick, as she and Collier won an NCAA title when they were teammates at UConn and founded the Unrivaled league together.

By the time the draft advanced to the reserves portion, both players had the opportunity to select teammates. Clark made sure to choose Kelsey Mitchell, while Collier didn't miss a chance to add Courtney Williams.

That will bring some of that preestablished chemistry for both sides during the actual game.

Clark has made a habit of setting up Mitchell for open looks from three-point range and will surely do the same when defenders collapse on her even in an All-Star setting. And Williams is a dominant midrange player who is accustomed to playing in the space created by Collier.

Unfortunately for Collier and Williams, they will be playing in something of a road environment given the presence of so many Fever players on the other side.
