Cowboys' Dak Prescott Hypes 'Exciting as Hell' CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens WR Duo

Paul KasabianJul 8, 2025

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said Tuesday that it's "exciting as hell" to be getting the wide receiver duo of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens the ball this year, per comments made at his annual youth football camp to ESPN's Todd Archer.

"To be the guy that gets to get them the ball, it's exciting as hell because you can turn on the OTA tapes and one of the guys, the ball is in the air [for] and [the] other one has got his had up celebrating already," Prescott said. "We've just got to continue to grow that and continue to make sure that that's trending the right way."

The Cowboys added Pickens via trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers last May. In three NFL seasons, Pickens has amassed 174 catches for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He's a great addition as a second wide receiver alongside Lamb, who has been tremendous in a starring role in Dallas. The former Oklahoma star has notched four straight 1,000-yard seasons and three consecutive 100-yard catch campaigns. In 2023, Lamb was the NFL's unquestioned top receiver, hauling in 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Now Lamb has a sidekick in Pickens who would be a top wide receiver on some other teams, as he was in Pittsburgh. It's easy to see why that makes Prescott happy, but the nine-year veteran has other reasons to smile as well.

Prescott said he'll be a "full go" for training camp after missing the back half of the 2024 regular season with a partial avulsion of his right hamstring.

"I'm healthy as I'll be," Prescott said from his free football camp in Southlake, Texas, on Tuesday. "I'll be full go for camp. I'm healthy. Yeah, I think soon here I'll probably get the official sign off from doc, but I'm healthy."

For now, it's all smiles for Prescott as he and the Cowboys enter a new era under first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer, the team's former offensive coordinator who got a promotion after Dallas parted ways with Mike McCarthy.

Prescott, Lamb and Pickens will open training camp with the Cowboys on July 22.

Dallas is slated to open its regular season with a road game on Thursday, Sept. 4, against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
