Reds' Tyler Stephenson to Wear Ricky Bobby-Themed Gear for MLB Speedway Classic

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson will be donning a special look for the MLB Speedway Classic against the Atlanta Braves next month.

If Stephenson is behind the plate on Aug. 2 at Bristol Motor Speedway, he will be wearing Ricky Bobby-themed catcher's gear, paying homage to Will Ferrell's famed character from the hit movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

Stephenson has appeared in 49 games for the Reds and is hitting .233 with six home runs and 25 RBI. Cincinnati sits in fourth place in the NL Central with a 46-44 record following Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.

The 2025 MLB Speedway Classic will be the first regular-season MLB game played in the state of Tennessee. Bristol Motor Speedway has a maximum capacity of nearly 150,000, creating the potential to set a new all-time attendance record for an MLB game.
