Yankees' Aaron Judge Hit Near Eye by Volpe Throw After Inning, Stays in Game vs. Mets
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge was hit near his eye by a ball tossed by teammate and shortstop Anthony Volpe after the bottom of the fourth inning during his team's road matchup at the New York Mets on Saturday, but he remained in the game.
The Yankees' game broadcast on YES Network reported the news and showed Judge with a small bandage outside his right eye. Judge reportedly went down the runway connected to the Yankees' dugout to receive treatment before returning to the field.

YES Network video later showed the throw, which knocked Judge's sunglasses off. The reigning American League MVP was looking to his left at the time and evidently wasn't expecting a ball to be thrown in his direction.
Talkin' Yanks reported that "it is normal for a ball to be thrown to Judge as he comes off the field."
Regardless of the circumstances, thankfully, the injury doesn't appear to be too serious. Judge also stayed in to bat in the top of the sixth after fielding in the fifth.
After the game, Judge told reporters that his eye was "good."
The Yankees certainly can't afford to lose Judge for any time, and it doesn't appear they will even after the freak accident.
Entering Saturday, Judge was leading the major leagues in hits, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, OPS, total bases and wins above replacement. That's in addition to 32 home runs, 71 RBI and the American League lead in runs.
New York is also in a tailspin, as losers of 15 of its last 21 games, including five straight heading into Saturday. That skid has dropped the Yankees, who had controlled the AL East all season, into a tie for second place in the division.
So losing Judge would have been disastrous, but thankfully, it looks like he'll be OK.
