Jannik Sinner Continues To Cruise
3 of 7
Jannik Sinner defeated Pedro Martinez 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 to reach the Round of 16 at Wimbledon for the fourth consecutive year.
The top-ranked Italian came out flying, needing just 31 minutes to win the opening set against the Spaniard, who was struggling with a shoulder injury and unable to maximize his already weaker serve.
In the second set, the two continued to trade holds until Sinner broke once again.
But Martinez would not back down, creating four breakpoint opportunities against the four-time major champion.
However, he failed to convert on any of them and found himself down two sets in just under an hour and a half.
From that point on, Sinner dominated Martinez with his powerful serve and explosive groundstrokes, securing victory in less than two hours.
Just like last month's French Open, Sinner has already emerged as the best player in the draw.
The 23-year-old has only lost 17 games and has not dropped a set in his three matches.
He's won all 37 of his service games while overwhelming opponents with his relentless power and ball-striking ability.
In the Round of 16, Sinner will face his first real formidable opponent in Grigor Dimitrov.
The Bulgarian has the serve and consistency to stay in this match, but given Sinner's form and momentum, even a perfect performance won't be enough to usurp the Italian.
Novak Djokovic Looks In Top Form
4 of 7
Novak Djokovic cruised past Serbian compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic, 6-3, 6-0, 6-4, to reach the Round of 16 at the All England Club for the eighth consecutive year.
In the first set, the 24-time Grand Slam champion dominated, unleashing 22 winners and only six unforced errors on Kecmanovic.
However, there was still more to come.
In the second set, the 38-year-old displayed a dominant serving performance and an even more aggressive and consistent baseline game, with 13 winners to just two unforced errors.
In the third set, Djokovic maintained his signature-like relentless return game, breaking Kecmanovic in two of his first three service games before effortlessly winning the match.
The six-time All England Club champion has hit 49 aces in three matches, reduced overall wear and tear, and is playing his most consistent tennis in at least the last year.
Barring a significant upset, Djokovic is set to face top-ranked Sinner in the semifinals, seeking redemption after losing to the Italian in straight sets at the French Open this year.
Iga Swiatek Dominates, Emma Navarro Comes From Behind To Defeat Barbora Krejcikova
5 of 7
Iga Swiatek was in full control against Danielle Collins, defeating the American 6-2, 6-3.
Swiatek began the match, nearly breaking Collins before she stormed back to hold.
However, the eighth seed continued to apply the pressure and broke the 31-year-old in consecutive games before eventually taking the set 6-2.
The Pole's serve was on fire early, as she won 15 of 17 points behind her first serve while committing just six unforced errors.
In the second set, Swiatek immediately broke Collins and maintained her lead, making only four unforced errors and winning 16 of her total 19 service points.
The five-time major champion played her best yet, after experiencing bouts of inconsistency in her two previous matches.
Swiatek won 86 percent of points behind her first serve and found her trademark consistency, committing just 10 unforced errors.
While Swiatek easily won, other top players faced more challenges.
Emma Navarro had to battle from a set down to dispatch defending champion Barbora Krejcikova, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The 24-year-old saved nine of 12 breakpoints in the final two sets, while her opponent committed 40 unforced errors.
Both players face tough tests ahead of them as Navarro takes on seventh-seeded Mirra Andreeva, while Swiatek takes on Clara Tauson, who just stunned 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in straight sets.
Clara Tauson Stuns Elena Rybakina To Reach Round of 16
6 of 7
For the first time in her career, Elena Rybakina has failed to reach the Round of 16 at Wimbledon in a main-draw appearance.
Clara Tauson stunned the 2022 champion 7-6(6), 6-3 in another upset to shake up the women’s draw, reaching the Round of 16 at Wimbledon for the first time in her career.
Prior to this year, Tauson had never won a first-round match at the All England Club but has shown throughout the week just what makes her game so dangerous.
The 22-year-old Dane has won 29 of her last 30 service games and has utilized the perfect blend of aggression and consistency from the baseline to dismantle each opponent.
The pair played a thrilling 75-minute first set, each saving all their break points to force a tiebreaker.
Tauson quickly took a mini-break at 3-1, but Rybakina found her rhythm, scoring four consecutive points.
However, Tauson persevered and emerged victorious at 8-6.
In the second set, Tauson broke Rybakina's first service game, which proved to be all she needed.
The No. 23 seed won 84 percent of her points on first serve and saved the one break point she faced in the second set.
Rybakina had dropped seven total games in her first two matches, but her uncharacteristic bouts of inconsistency paired with Tauson's form and confidence proved to be the perfect storm for her demise.
In the Round of 16, Tauson will look to take down another contender in eighth-seed Iga Swiatek.
She'll undoubtedly start as an underdog, but when you consider the way she's been playing, it'd be foolish to count her out.
Mirra Andreeva Emerging As A Top Contender
7 of 7
Mirra Andreeva has proved to be a true outlier in a women’s draw riddled with upsets.
The 18-year-old wunderkind defeated Hailey Baptiste 6-1, 6-3, to reach the Round of 16 at the All England Club for the second consecutive year.
Andreeva began the match by breaking the American and never looked back, needing just 31 minutes to take a one-set lead.
Earlier, the seventh seed excelled with her court movement, shot-making, and redirection, hitting 12 winners to three unforced errors in the first set.
In the second set, Andreeva broke first, before she dropped her first service game of the match.
Andreeva broke right back, and when she faced five points in her next service game, she fended off all of them in a nearly 10-minute game to take a commanding 5-2 lead before serving out the match shortly after.
After falling in a stunning first-round upset to Brenda Fruhvirtova last year, Andreeva has been brilliant in her return to Wimbledon.
She has yet to drop a set while impressing with her overall consistency.
In the Round of 16, she'll face her first test in 10-seed Emma Navarro, but she is nonetheless expected to persevere given her current form and momentum.
