Aaron Judge's Yankees vs. Juan Soto's Mets Betting Odds, Game Picks for Subway Series

Joe TanseyJul 4, 2025

The second edition of the 2025 Subway Series kicks off on Friday afternoon at Citi Field.

Neither the New York Yankees nor the New York Mets have been great in the last seven days. The Yankees were swept in a high-scoring four-game series by the Toronto Blue Jays, while the Mets are 2-4 in their last six games.

Despite the losing run, the Yankees are better poised to win the series because of the pitching matchups in their favor and the 23 runs they have scored over the last four games.

Friday

The Yankees are in great shape to start the Subway Series with a bang.

The Mets placed projected Friday starter Paul Blackburn on the injured list, so Justin Hagenman will take on the star-studded lineup.

The 28-year-old is running into a Yankees lineup that posted 23 runs in Toronto despite the four losses north of the border.

Cody Bellinger, Jasson Dominguez and Aaron Judge all have eight or more hits in the past week, while Jazz Chisholm Jr. has three home runs in that span.

An inexperienced major league hurler such as Hagenman may have trouble against a red-hot lineup.

Pick: Yankees Team Total Over 4.5

Saturday

The Mets' best chance on paper to win a game in the series comes on Saturday with Frankie Montas opposing Carlos Rodón.

Montas looked strong in his first start of the season at home against Atlanta. The Mets have to hope that version of him shows up to match the Yankees pitcher, who allowed 14 earned runs in 34 June innings.

Rodón didn't have overwhelming stuff in the last month, with six or more strikeouts in two of six starts.

The Mets have the fifth-lowest strikeout total against lefties in the majors, so they should put plenty of balls in play against the 32-year-old.

Francisco Lindor is the player to watch in the matchup. He owns a .263 batting average and two home runs in 38 at-bats versus Rodón.

Pick: Mets Money Line and Francisco Lindor Over 1.5 Total Bases

Sunday

The Yankees should be an overwhelming favorite on Sunday with Max Fried on the mound.

The Mets currently do not have a starter listed, but it will likely be a bullpen game or a starter pulled up from Triple-A.

Fried led the Yankees to an 8-2 win in his first start against the Mets this season. He struck out eight batters and gave up three earned runs.

The 31-year-old owns a significant edge over anyone the Mets throw on Sunday, and with the way the Yankees offense is hitting this week, it's hard to imagine their bats will struggle against a young or inexperienced arm.

With that in mind, a Yankees bet on the series money line is also worth a look because of how Friday and Sunday's pitching matchups line up.

Pick: Yankees Money Line
