Omar Khan, Steelers Agree to 3-Year GM Contract Extension Through 2028

Doric SamJul 3, 2025

Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan will not be going anywhere anytime soon.

Per ESPN's Brooke Pryor, the Steelers announced on Thursday that they signed Khan to a three-year contract extension that will keep him with the organization through 2028.

"I would like to thank Art Rooney II for his support," Khan said in a statement. "I believe we are building a championship roster and look forward to the 2025 season and beyond as our goals continue to be to bring another Super Bowl to the City of Pittsburgh and our great fans."

Khan has been a member of the Steelers front office since 2001. He worked his way up the ranks and was promoted to GM in 2022.

The 2025 offseason has been a banner moment for Khan, as Pittsburgh made major moves to transform the team.

The Steelers acquired star receiver D.K. Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks and signed six-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay in March. Pittsburgh also shipped away wideout George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. After months of waiting, the team landed a deal with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers for what is likely the final season of his legendary career.

Pittsburgh made another big splash earlier this week when it acquired three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and 2024 Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for star three-time All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

The Steelers are hoping to make a deeper run in the playoffs this season after being eliminated in the wild-card round in the last two seasons. Khan has put the team in a good position to make some noise during the 2025 campaign, and he was rightfully rewarded for his efforts.
