WWE's Cody Rhodes Reportedly Joins Roman Reigns in 'Street Fighter' Movie Cast

A second WWE Superstar is reportedly joining the cast for the upcoming Street Fighter movie.

On the heels of a report from Borys Kit of the Hollywood Reporter last week that Roman Reigns is set to play the role of Akuma in the movie, Deadline.com's Robert Lang reported this week that Cody Rhodes will star as Guile.

The new Street Fighter film, which is being directed by Kitao Sakurai and developed by Legendary, Sony and Capcom, is scheduled for a 2026 release.

Based on the hugely popular video game series that started in 1987 and reached a fever pitch in 1991 with the debut of Street Fighter II, Street Fighter has had theatrical releases before.

The first Street Fighter movie, featuring action star Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile, was released in 1994 and became something of a cult classic.

Rhodes will look to follow in Van Damme's footsteps in what will be his second role in a major film. The first will hit theaters next month, as Rhodes has a role in The Naked Gun.

Reigns also has fairly limited Hollywood acting experience, but Street Fighter is banking on two of WWE's biggest stars to help deliver a sizable audience.

Rhodes and Reigns have been arguably the greatest rivals in wrestling over the past few years, facing each other in the WrestleMania 39 and WrestleMania 40 main events.

Cody finally beat Roman for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40 last year to finish his story, although he lost it to the newly villainous John Cena at WrestleMania 41 back in April.

However, after winning the King of the Ring tournament, Rhodes is set for a WWE title rematch against Cena at SummerSlam in August.

Along with Rhodes and Reigns, Street Fighter will reportedly also feature rapper 50 Cent as Balrog, actor Jason Momoa as Blanka and comedian Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki.
