Angel Reese Reveals Advice She Gave Brother Julian After He Signed Lakers Contract

Taylyn Hadley Jul 2, 2025

Julian Reese, the younger brother of WNBA standout Angel Reese, has landed a spot with the Los Angeles Lakers’ Summer League squad as an undrafted free agent—and his older sister is offering guidance as he takes his first steps into the NBA spotlight.

"Opportunity. You’ve got to maximize it because you don’t get these opportunities twice," Angel Reese told reporters. "... I told him to show up first and make sure you’re at the front of the line for drills."

"He doesn’t have the opportunity to slack off," she continued. "He has to maximize it and really push through and really show his all, because it’s now or never. I think he has a really great opportunity, especially with the Lakers and what they need in the frontcourt."

The former Maryland forward averaged 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists last season while shooting an efficient 55.5 percent from the field.

With an NBA opportunity in front of him, Angel is doing what any true big sister would—making sure he doesn’t let it slip away.

"I text him everyday... I'm really happy for him and proud of him," Angel said.
