Dom Mysterio Reportedly Has Legit Injury as WWE IC Title Match vs. AJ Styles Pulled

WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio was scheduled for a marquee title defense against AJ Styles at the Night of Champions premium live event on Saturday, but the match was abruptly canceled during this week's episode of Monday Night Raw.

According to PWInsider (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), there's actually a legitimate reason for the match being pulled from the card, as Mysterio is dealing with a "rib cage issue."

Monday Night Raw general manager Adam Pearce informed Styles of Mysterio's injury during a backstage segment this week:

While an official timeline for Mysterio's recovery wasn't revealed, it was reported that the issue isn't expected to keep him sidelined for too long. Styles is still expected to be first in line for a shot at the Intercontinental Title when he's able to return to action.

The injury bug has been making the rounds in WWE lately. WWE Women's Tag Team Champion and Mysterio's on-screen love interest Liv Morgan recently suffered a dislocated shoulder during a match on Monday Night Raw. Rising midcard Superstar Chad Gable was written off television during this week's episode, and it was reported that he will be undergoing surgery in July.
