Reese received the 2025 award over fellow nominees A’ja Wilson, Claressa Shields, Coco Gauff, Dawn Staley, Flau'jae Johnson, Juju Watkins, Sha'Carri Richardson and Simone Biles.

The second-year WNBA star is the first athlete since tennis icon Serena Williams to win the BET Sportswoman of the Year award three times.

Reese received her first BET award in 2023 after helping lead LSU to the program's first NCAA championship.

She took home the honor again in 2024 during her WNBA Rookie of the Year runner-up campaign with the Sky.

Reese, who has made her return from season-ending wrist surgery last season, is so far averaging 9.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals through seven games with Chicago in 2025.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts received the BET Sportsman of the Year award for the second time in three years after leading his team to a Super Bowl win in February.
