Caitlin Clark was arguably the best player on the court for Team USA, finishing with 14 points and 11 assists without committing a turnover in 25 minutes against China.

Clark is the first United States player to record double-digit assists in a World Cup game since Dawn Staley had 12 assists and one turnover against Russia in 1998.

Clark's 11 assists are also the most ever by a US player in their World Cup debut.

The United States controlled the game from start to finish, building a double-digit lead early and outscoring China in all four quarters on their way to a 33-point win.

Team USA assisted on 26 of their 34 field-goals made, and all 12 players scored. Sonia Citron was the last to score with a layup in the final minute.

Rhyne Howard, Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark each finished with a game-high 14 points in their World Cup debuts. The trio also combined to knock down eight of Team USA's 12 3-pointers.

China shot just 35 percent from two and 26 percent from three, but found some success at the free-throw line. The team went 16-of-19 from the line, with 7'4" center Zhang Ziyu accounting for nine of those makes herself.

Paige Bueckers can get a mid-range bucket whenever she wants. She entered halftime scoreless before exploding for 14 points in the second half, including 10 in the fourth quarter.

This United States roster is just way too good at basketball. Team USA outscored China 21-13 in the third quarter to make this a 28-point game.

Paige Bueckers joined the party in the third quarter, hitting two pull-up mid-range jumpers before finding Rhyne Howard on a smooth no-look pass for a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the quarter.

Aliyah Boston also played some impressive defense on 7'4" Zhang Ziyu, stopping her 1-on-1 on one possession, then taking the ball from her hands on another.

Caitlin Clark added to her assist total (now at six) finding Breanna Stewart for a mid-range jumper out of a pick-and-roll to extend Team USA's lead to 20 points at the break.

China cut the deficit to as little as eight points with 6:21 remaining in the second quarter, but Team USA quickly pulled away, ending the half on a 16-4 run.

The United States' athleticism, ball skills and shot-making have simply been too much for China. Rhyne Howard has a game-high 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting from three, while Jackie Young is right behind her with 10 points.

Just watch Aliyah Boston try to defend 7'4" Zhang Ziyu in the paint. Good luck stopping that.

Boston isn't small at 6'5", but she sure looks like it in comparison to China's Zhang, a 19-year-old center who is eligible for the 2027 WNBA Draft.
