Brock Boeser, Canucks Reportedly Agree to 7-Year, $7.25M AAV Contract amid NHL Rumors
The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly bringing their longest-tenured player back for another seven seasons.
Brock Boeser and the Canucks have agreed to a seven-year, $7.25 million AAV contract to bring him back to Vancouver in free agency, Sportsnet's Dan Murphy reported on Tuesday.
Boeser hit free agency after his previous three-year, $19.95 million deal with the Canucks expired following the 2024-25 season.

His surprising return comes after the winger said before the end of his ninth season with the Canucks that it was "unlikely at this point" he would re-sign with the franchise.
Boeser's comment came after the Canucks had been eliminated from playoff contention for the fourth time in five seasons.
“It hurts,” Boeser said in April, per NHL.com. “We wanted to be in the playoffs again so bad. If you get in, you never know what can happen."
Boeser's contract could be seen as a vote of confidence that both player and team are ready to rebound from a disappointing 2024-25 campaign.
After Boeser led his team with a career-high 40 goals during his All-Star 2023-24 campaign, both he and the Canucks took a step back during his contract year.
Boeser recorded 25 goals and 25 assists for a total of 50 points in 75 games of the 2024-25 campaign. The Canucks meanwhile went from winning the Pacific to missing the playoffs in a single season.
Given that the rest of the Vancouver roster also struggled last season, the Canucks will hope an overall resurgence by the team will help Boeser repeat his 40-goal season next fall.
Rebound seasons from key players like Boeser, Quinn Hughes and Thatcher Demko could help the Canucks make another push for the playoffs in 2026.
Boeser, who was selected by the Canucks with the No. 23 pick of the 2015 NHL draft, has played 554 games over nine seasons with the franchise. He currently ranks eighth among all Canucks players with 204 career goals.
