Red Sox’s Jarren Duran Reportedly Eyed by Padres amid MLB Trade Rumors
The San Diego Padres are targeting Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran on the trade market, according to Dennis Lin of The Athletic.
The Padres previously expressed interest in Duran prior to the 2024 season until veteran Jurickson Profar and Jackson Merrill were both selected as All-Stars, per Lin.
Lin also noted that the Red Sox "might consider Duran expendable."

San Diego will be on the hunt for help in the outfield after Gavin Sheets suffered an injury following a collision into the left-field wall on Sunday.
If Sheets is forced to miss extended time, the Padres' top internal options to replace him are utility players Tyler Wade and Brandon Lockridge.
Manager Mike Shildt may be hesitant to lean heavily on either one, though. Wade and Lockridge have posted an OPS of .585 and .524 throughout their respective careers.
Duran wrapped up a breakout 2024 season, earning an All-Star nod and finishing No. 8 in American League MVP voting. He racked up 21 home runs, 75 RBI, 48 doubles and 14 triples to go along with a .285/.342/.492 slash line.
While Duran hasn't been able to build upon his 2024 campaign at the start of the 2025 season, he's remained a key contributor at the plate as well as a versatile defensive piece.
He's hitting .264 with four home runs and 34 RBI in 60 games this season. His six triples are tied for the most in the majors.
Duran is also earning just $3.75 million for the 2025 season and is under team control through 2028.
Boston sits at No. 4 in the AL East standings with a 29-32 record and could search for avenues to make room for outfield prospect Roman Anthony if the team continues to struggle.
Anthony was listed as the No. 1 overall player in the latest MLB prospect rankings from Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter.
The 2025 MLB trade deadline is on July 31.
