Brad Marchand, Panthers Agree to 6-Year, $32M Contract After Ekblad Deal

Julia StumbaughJun 30, 2025

Brad Marchand is returning to Sunrise after helping the Florida Panthers win a second straight Stanley Cup.

Marchand and the Panthers agreed to a six-year contract extension, reportedly worth just less than $32 million, according to Sportsnet's Elliott Friedman.

That comes after Friedman reported the Panthers reached an eight-year contract with Aaron Ekblad worth roughly $6.1 million annually.

Marchand spent the first full 15 seasons of his NHL career with the Boston Bruins, where he served as captain since the beginning of the 2023-24 season.

The Bruins then dealt Marchand's expiring contract, while retaining 50 percent of his remaining $6.125 million in salary, to the Panthers at the 2025 trade deadline.

Marchand, who was sidelined with an upper-body injury at the time, made his Panthers debut on March 28.

After gradually increasing his ice time over the last 10 games of the Panthers' regular season, Marchand became a key part of Florida's bottom six and second power play unit during the team's run to the Stanley Cup.

Marchand recorded 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points, while recording 36 hits and leading the Panthers with 48 penalty minutes, through 23 playoff games with his new team.

He helped Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen make the Panthers' third line a difficult matchup for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes on the team's way to meet the Edmonton Oilers in the Cup Final.

Marchand also joined Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett as players who helped the Panthers maintain the hard-hitting, physical identity that won them the 2024 Stanley Cup.

With Bennett, Ekblad and now Marchand all reportedly reaching new deals, the reigning champs are off to a strong start this offseason.
