Jalen Hurts Not Reflecting on Eagles' Super Bowl Win, Focused on 2025 NFL Season

Julia StumbaughMay 20, 2025

Jalen Hurts isn't interested in resting on his laurels after leading the Philadelphia Eagles to victory in Super Bowl LIX.

"We're here talking about the 2025-26 season," Hurts told reporters when asked Tuesday about his perspective on the championship (h/t PHLY's Zach Berman).

Hurts continued, per Bleeding Green Nation's Brandon Lee Gowton: “Everything that’s been accomplished to this point, it’s great. But there’s a desire to achieve more and it’s only intensified.”

Hurts and the Eagles are preparing to open the season on Sept. 4 at home against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles took another step toward keeping their Super Bowl-winning core together by announcing on Monday that coach Nick Sirianni has been signed to a multiyear extension.

“Hopefully we’re just getting started," Hurts said about Sirianni's contract, per Gowton.

Hurts was named the MVP of Super Bowl LIX after helping the Eagles climb out to a dominant 24-0 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs before halftime of the championship game.

He went 17-of-22 for 221 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the Eagles to a 40-22 victory.

Hurts was already thinking about his next championship run days after that victory.

He told reporters four days after the game that the ring wouldn't be enough to erase the pain of February 2023, when the Eagles lost 38-35 to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.

NFL Films' mic'd up version of the Super Bowl showed Hurts contemplating that loss late in the Eagles' championship victory last February.

"It's like the joy of winning it still had no comparison to the pain of losing. So, these things are still going to motivate me, and drive me internally," Hurts said four days after the Eagles' Super Bowl win (h/t 94WIP.com's Eliot Shorr-Parks.)

The Eagles are playing 11 teams who were in the 2024 playoffs next season, according to NFL.com's Eric Edholm. It sounds like Hurts is already planning out how to lead his team to victory against one of the toughest schedules in the NFL.
