The Red Sox will debut the new uniforms on Friday night during a 7:10 p.m. ET home game against the Atlanta Braves.
The Green Monster is the nickname for the left-field wall at Fenway, where the Red Sox have played since 1912. That year is stitched inside the collar of the new uniforms, as is a heather pattern imitating the inside of the wall.
The wordmark across the front of the uniform is designed to look like the signage on the wall, while the numbers on the back are modeled after its hand-painted scoreboard numbers.
The uniforms feature yellow accents in the same shade as Pesky's Pole, the foul pole in right field named after Johnny Pesky.
There are also three green circles and four red circles above the tag, imitating Fenway's light indicators for a full count and two outs.
The Red Sox have previously debuted blue and yellow City Connect uniforms, matching the color scheme of the Boston Marathon.
Red Sox executive Vice President of Chief Marketing and Partnerships Officer Troup Parkinson previously told Mass Live's Christopher Smith that the club, even when designing the previously City Connect outfits, "always wanted to do some sort of Fenway-centric uniform."
According to Parkinson, a precise color match for the outfield wall "doesn't truly exist" in the Pantone Matching System.
Multiple samples were matched to the Green Monster before the Red Sox settled on the final color of the uniform, per Sports Business Journal's Mike Mazzeo.
Garrett Crochet will be on the mound to face off against reigning NL Cy Young award winner Chris Sale when the Red Sox debut the custom shade of green. The Red Sox head into the weekend at 22-23, 4.0 games back from the New York Yankees for the top of the AL East.
