Derek Carr's Brother David Says QB is 'Definitely Done Playing' After NFL Retirement
Derek Carr is "definitely done playing" in the NFL and has "moved on" after announcing his retirement on Saturday, his brother David said during a Tuesday appearance on NFL Network.
David's comments come after a source told NBC Sports' Mike Florio that it's "extremely unlikely" the former New Orleans Saints quarterback will return to the NFL after retiring.

Florio added that Carr is "already making other professional plans."
Carr's retirement decision came after a shoulder injury left his availability for the 2025 season in question.
The Saints said in a statement on Saturday that medical scans revealed Carr had "sustained a labral tear and also had significant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff."
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Carr had undergone an injection and attempted rehab, but was unable to return to 100 percent without surgery.
That procedure could have caused Carr to miss the entirety of the 2025 season, and the Saints noted there was no guarantee he would "return to the level of strength, function and performance of play to which he was accustomed."
Carr, who turned 34 in March, was one of the six oldest quarterbacks to start at least 10 NFL games last season.
Geno Smith (34), Kirk Cousins (36), Russell Wilson (36), Matthew Stafford (37) are all set to return next season, while 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers has yet to make a decision about coming back to the NFL in 2025.
There is some precedent for quarterbacks making a return to the NFL at age 35 or older. Tom Brady announced his retirement in February 2022 only to announce his return 40 days later. Brett Favre retired and returned multiple times prior to his final NFL season in 2010. But neither of those situations involved Carr's shoulder injury.
Carr gave up $30 million in guaranteed pay by retiring ahead of the 2025 season, per Florio. He still received a $10 million roster bonus in March.
Any future return to the NFL would involve not only injury recovery, but also signing with a new team. If Carr comes out of retirement ahead of the 2026 season, the Saints would likely release the veteran quarterback rather than taking on his $30 million hit against the salary cap, per Florio.
