George Kittle's Contract Details, Bonuses Revealed for Historic $76.4M 49ers Deal

Timothy RappApr 30, 2025

George Kittle and the San Francisco 49ers agreed to a four-year, $76.4 million extension on Tuesday, with up to $40 million guaranteed. And now we have more details on what that extension looks like.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the deal includes an $18.1 million signing bonus which will be paid in three increments over the next year ($3 million by May 9, $8.1 million by Sept. 12 and $7 million to be paid by April 3, 2026).

His 2025 base salary will be $1.2 million, fully guaranteed, while he'll earn $100,000 in an offseason workout bonus and $500,000 per game when on the active roster.

His 2026 base salary will be $12.4 million, again fully guaranteed, with a $100,000 offseason workout bonus and a $500,000 per-game active roster bonus.

His 2027 base salary will be  $17.1 million, fully guaranteed, with $2 million fully guaranteed and another, $5 million conditionally guaranteed based on his 2026 performance and $15.5 million that can be paid as an option bonus. He'll have a $100,000 offseason workout bonus and a $750,000 per-game active roster bonus.

His 2028 base salary will be $17.1 million with $15.4 million payable as an option bonus. He'll have an offseason workout bonus of $100,000 and a $750,000 per-game active roster bonus.

Finally, his 2029 base salary will be $21.5 million, with $19.8 payable as an option bonus. He'll have an offseason workout bonus of $100,000 and a $750,000 per-game active roster bonus.

Practically speaking, the 49ers will have an out after the 2027 season, with neither Kittle's 2028 or 2029 base salaries fully guaranteed. At the very least, it's hard to imagine Kittle will see that 2029 base salary of $21.5 million in what would be his age-35 season.

Granted, the 31-year-old has shown little signs of slowing down. Kittle, a six-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro, had another banner year in 2024, catching 78 passes for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games.

"[He's] better with time," linebacker Fred Warner told reporters. "Like fine wine. He's doing a heck of a job. He's always been great, but the fact that he's making the plays that he's making right now at this point in his career has been phenomenal."
