Mike Tomlin's Son Dino Reportedly to Participate in Bucs' Rookie Minicamp

Boston College wide receiver Dino Tomlin, the son of Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, is reportedly set to participate in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' rookie minicamp.

The younger Tomlin opened his college career with Maryland before transferring to Boston College ahead of the 2022 season.

He joins Tampa Bay's group of rookie minicamp participants that also includes Colorado safety Shilo Sanders, who signed with the team as an undrafted free agent on Saturday.

The elder Tomlin has ties to the Buccaneers organization prior to his tenure with the Steelers, as he served as a defensive backs coach for the team from 2001-05. This included Tampa Bay's Super Bowl XXXVII win.

As for Dino, he caught three passes for 40 yards in 10 games during his 2024 campaign. His best season at Boston College came in 2023, when he hauled in 24 receptions for 312 yards in 13 games, which included two starts.

The 24-year-old was impressive at the Eagles' pro day leading up to the draft, posting a 40-yard dash time of 4.45 seconds (via PennLive.com's Nick Farabaugh). Tomlin also recorded a 38" vertical and 10'6" broad jump while measuring in at 5'11" and 183 pounds.

It may be difficult for him to carve out a role on a Buccaneers squad that is targeting a sixth consecutive playoff appearance in 2025. Tampa Bay has established starters at multiple receiver spots, including Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, while the front office also added Ohio State wideout Emeka Egbuka with the No. 19 overall pick in the draft.

Even if Tomlin isn't able to secure a spot as a depth option with the Buccaneers, a strong minicamp performance could also entice opposing teams to give him an extended look in training camp.
