One final possibility for a divorce between the Falcons and Cousins resides in the hands of Aaron Rodgers. If the veteran quarterback decides to retire instead of signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, it would open up a quarterback vacancy in Pittsburgh and the team might be inclined to give Atlanta a call to address it.
At the moment, the Steelers have Mason Rudolph and rookie Will Howardโmore of a developmental project than a plug-and-play starterโas its quarterbacking options, which aren't great choices for a team with a playoff-caliber roster.
Beyond that scenario, however, it's hard to imagine Cousins wearing a different uniform in 2025.
