Deion, Shedeur Sanders' Colorado Led 2025 NFL Draft with 3 WR Taken, Hunter Went No. 2
While quarterback Shedeur Sanders' slide to the fifth round was the biggest storyline of the 2025 NFL draft, there was plenty of positive news for head coach Deion Sanders' Colorado football program.
That is especially true when it came to the wide receiver position.
Brian Howell of the Boulder Daily Camera noted Saturday that the Buffaloes saw three wide receivers selected during the draft. That was the most wide receivers of any single school in 2025.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap ๐ธ

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Travis Hunter was the headliner at No. 2 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars, while LaJohntay Wester (No. 203 overall to the Baltimore Ravens) and Jimmy Horn Jr. (No. 208 overall to the Carolina Panthers) went in the sixth round.
Jacksonville traded up to take Hunter with that second pick after he dazzled the college football world by taking home the Heisman Trophy as a two-way star who played wide receiver and cornerback. On offense, he posted 96 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Sanders spread the ball around to other targets, though, which surely helped Wester and Horn get drafted.
Wester posted 74 catches for 931 yards and 10 scores last year, while Horn finished with 37 catches for 441 yards and one score. One of Wester's touchdowns was arguably the biggest one of the season for Colorado, as Sanders found him on the final play of regulation for a 43-yard score that forced overtime against Baylor.
The Buffaloes ended up winning that game, avoiding an 0-1 start in Big 12 play and improving from 4-8 in 2023 to 9-4 in 2024.
Having so much success at the wide receiver position in this draft should only help Colorado recruit in the future, so Hunter, Wester and Horn will surely be joined by other Buffaloes pass-catchers in the NFL in the coming years.
