George Pickens, Keenan Allen's Best Landing Spots After 2025 NFL Draft
The NFL draft is now over after 32 teams combined to make 257 picks over three days.
Thirty-one wide receivers were selected, allowing teams to patch any holes they had on their roster at that position.
However, don't be surprised to see more player movement. For starters, there are still trade rumblings surrounding Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens, as Dianna Russini of The Athletic previously reported.
Second, a few quality free agent wide receivers remain, including 12-year vet Keenan Allen, a six-time Pro Bowler who caught 70 passes for 744 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024 for the Chicago Bears.
With that in mind, here's a look at some potential landing spots for the duo.
George Pickens: Dallas Cowboys
1 of 2
The Dallas Cowboys could really use a WR2 to play alongside superstar wideout CeeDee Lamb.
Take Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons' word for it, as he said on Bleacher Report's NFL draft show Thursday that Arizona wideout Tetairoa McMillan, who went eighth to the Carolina Panthers, was supposed to be the pick at No. 12 for Dallas.
Dallas didn't pick another wideout in this draft, so there's still a need there for another star wideout. Pickens could potentially be the answer.
It's hard seeing a fit elsewhere at this juncture, in part because of the draft capital it would take to get a player of his caliber. Plus, any team that trades for him would probably want to sign him to a contract extension to avoid the possibility of losing him for nothing when his rookie contract expires after the 2025 season.
Also, a team with reported interest, the Green Bay Packers (per Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports), selected a wide receiver in the first round (Texas' Matthew Golden) for the first time since 2002. They also took TCU's Savion Williams in Round 3, so their wideout room is set.
But Dallas has a clear need and desire for a star wideout, so the Cowboys make sense here.
Keenan Allen: New Orleans Saints
2 of 2
The Saints are in a precarious spot leading into the 2025 season because they don't know the status of starting quarterback Derek Carr, who has a shoulder injury that threatens his status for next year.
The Saints do have a backup plan in Tyler Shough, the ex-Louisville star who they selected 40th overall.
But let's say Carr misses time in 2025 and the Saints hand the offensive keys to the rookie. He could use a productive and smart veteran who can add as a security blanket and chain mover. Enter Allen, who can fill that role.
New Orleans didn't add any wideouts in the draft but did pick up another veteran in Brandin Cooks via free agency. He joins a wide receiver room led by Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.
Both of those players unfortunately suffered season-ending injuries, and the Saints struggled down the stretch with a shorthanded wideout crew. Adding more depth in 2025 can certainly help the Saints, and Allen has shown to be incredibly productive when called upon regardless, so he could be a fit.
