Kentucky Derby 2025 Post Positions and Complete Listing for Every Horse

With just a week to go until the 2025 Kentucky Derby, the post positions are set.

Citizen Bull, Neoequos and Final Gambit landed in the first three gates. Journalism, the favorite with 3-1 odds, will run from the eighth post.

Here's a look at all of the post positions for the 151st Kentucky Derby.

Journalism is the favorite heading into the Kentucky Derby after picking up a win in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby earlier this month. The horse, trained by Michael McCarthy, has a 4-0-1 record in five starts and ranks third on the Kentucky Derby points leaderboard (122.5).

Another top contender this year is Sandman, who has the second-most points on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with 129. His trainer, Mark Casse, has yet to win the Kentucky Derby in 10 tries, but has a horse capable of doing so this year.

Sovereignty is fresh off a second-place finish at the Florida Derby in March and has plenty of momentum heading into the Kentucky Derby.

While Burnham Square doesn't have quite the same odds as the top horses in the race, he comes into the Kentucky Derby ranked first on the leaderboard with 130 points.
