Jalen Ramsey Trade Reportedly Not 'Imminent' for Dolphins amid Rams Rumors

A Jalen Ramsey trade may take a few more months to come to fruition.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Ramsey and the Miami Dolphins appear ready to move in different directions but that no trade is "imminent" and Miami is not in a huge rush to move him.

"Ramsey and the Dolphins have reached a point where they agree that it is probably better that he continues his career elsewhere," Rapoport said. "There is no trade yet and it does not feel to me like anything is imminent."

Rapoport also noted that the Dolphins will likely wait until June 1st to make a move for salary cap reasons. He reported that Ramsey's former team, the Los Angeles Rams, appear to be among several teams interested.

Ramsey is set to have a $16.6 million cap hit in 2025. He is technically under contract through 2028 but there is an out in his contract after the 2025 season.

He played in 17 games for the Dolphins in 2024 and had 60 total tackles, 11 pass deflections, two interceptions and one sack. He is a seven-time Pro Bowler, three time All-Pro and was on the Rams Super Bowl LVI team.

While he remains an impactful defensive back, the Dolphins did address the position in the draft and could utilize his cap money on another asset while also adding a draft pick for the future.
