Will Howard, Quinn Ewers' Best Landing Spots After 2025 NFL Draft Day 2

Timothy RappApr 26, 2025

The biggest storyline from the second day of the NFL draft was Shedeur Sanders' shocking slide, as the Colorado quarterback still remains unselected.

He's not the only quarterback remaining on the board, however, as Ohio State quarterback and national champion Will Howard and Quinn Ewers also remain available.

Let's break down some potential landing spots for both players.

Las Vegas Raiders

This feels like a bit more of a Howard landing spot, as the Raiders might prefer to add more of a developmental prospect behind Geno Smith than a player like Ewers who feels more tailor-made to be a reliable backup for years to come.

Either way, though, both players are better options than Aidan O'Connell. The Raiders are going to draft a quarterback at some point, it just remains to be seen which one they prefer.

Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys Draft Football

This is far more of a Ewers destination, as the Cowboys already have a developmental project in Joe Milton III. The Cowboys have shown a willingness to carry three quarterbacks in the past, as they did with Cooper Rush and Trey Lance behind Prescott, so the Cowboys would be a sneaky destination for Ewers.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers Ravens Football

The fact that the Steelers haven't drafted a quarterback yet feels like a strong indication that they believe they'll eventually be signing Aaron Rodgers, but that may only be a one-year arrangement. The Steelers need to keep an eye on the future as well, and adding either Howard or Ewers would make sense in both the short and long-term picture.

Matthew Stafford is 37. Having a long-term contingency plan in place isn't the worst idea in the world for these Rams. Howard makes more sense as the project type, especially with Jimmy Garoppolo already installed as the backup.

Miami Dolphins

Dolphins Draft Football

Tua Tagovailoa has been very injury prone throughout his career, and his current backup is... Zach Wilson. The Dolphins need to address the backup quarterback position, even if it's with a rookie. Ewers would make a lot of sense for Miami.

Minnesota Vikings

J.J. McCarthy is going to be the guy in Minnesota, but his current backup is Brett Rypien. It wouldn't be a shock to see Minny draft a quarterback two years in a row.
