Saints Draft Tyler Shough in Round 2, Surprise NFL Fans with Shedeur Sanders on Board
A third quarterback has been selected at the NFL draft and, no, it was not Shedeur Sanders.
Instead, the New Orleans Saints selected Tyler Shough, the 25-year-old from Louisville, continuing the major slide for Sanders.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
The Saints pounced on Shough early in the second round, making him the No. 40 overall pick. It was a bit of an eye-raising move with Sanders and Jalen Milroe still on the board. And yes, folks on social media had some thoughts on that:
Shough was the No. 113 player on the B/R NFL Scouting Department's final big board and the No. 7 quarterback behind top overall pick Cam Ward, Sanders, Jaxson Dart (who went in the first round to the New York Giants), Jalen Milroe, Will Howard and Quinn Ewers. In that regard, Shough going third among the quarterbacks could be seen as something of a surprise, though there was buzz it was heading that way.
In its scouting report, the B/R NFL Scouting Department noted that Shough "possesses the physical tools and upside as a pocket passer to work with and develop. He projects as a primary backup behind an established veteran with starting upside. The talent and potential are there, but he needs more consistency."
New Orleans clearly believes in him, and he'll likely be given the chance to start immediately with Derek Carr potentially out for the 2025 season with a shoulder issue.
"He does have an issue with his shoulder; we're hoping to get some resolution and clarity on that in the near future, and when we do, I'll report back to you," Saints general manager Mickey Loomis told reporters earlier in the week regarding Carr.
Now, the Saints have a contingency plan in Shough, and Sanders Watch continues.
