Todd McShay Predicts Shedeur Sanders to Slide, Shough to Saints in R2 NFL Mock Draft
As the world waits to find out where Shedeur Sanders to be selected in the 2025 NFL draft, at least one prominent analyst thinks he won't be the next quarterback to come off the board.
In a mini-mock of the first 10 picks in the second round, The Ringer's Todd McShay had Tyler Shough going to the New Orleans Saints at No. 40 overall.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Sanders is not among the players included among the picks McShay made, despite quarterback-needy teams like the Cleveland Browns (No. 33 and 36) and New York Jets (No. 42) on the board.
There are other teams that could entertain adding a long-term option at quarterback in that group, like the Las Vegas Raiders (No. 37).
Despite some assumptions that the Saints might target Sanders at No. 9 overall once word of Derek Carr's shoulder injury came out, that got shot down when Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune reported on Tuesday that would not happen.
The Saints wound up using the ninth pick on Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. Shough had an official pre-draft visit with Saints officials on April 11. His stock has also been rising throughout the evaluation process.
Duncan noted on April 15 that two teams said Shough was the best quarterback in this year's class.
Opinions about the 2025 quarterback class are all over the place. B/R's NFL scouting department has Shough ranked as the seventh-best player at the position. Sanders is at No. 2, behind Cam Ward.
The Browns having two second-round picks after acquiring the No. 36 pick as part of their trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars does open the door for them to potentially take a quarterback while still filling out their roster at other positions.
Of course, that trade also gave Cleveland an extra first-round pick next year that could have the front office planning for a quarterback high in the 2026 draft.
Sanders will almost certainly hear his name called at some point on Friday, but the discussion around him still being available will only get louder if Shough is selected before him.
