TreVeyon Henderson, Cam Skattebo's Top Landing Spots After Day 1 of 2025 NFL Draft

Scott PolacekApr 25, 2025

While Shedeur Sanders' eventual landing spot will be the biggest storyline of the second day of the 2025 NFL draft, the running back position will also be under the spotlight.

After all, there is still plenty of elite college talent available even after Ashton Jeanty (No. 6 overall) and Omarion Hampton (No. 22 overall) heard their names called during Thursday's first round.

Two of the headline names will be quite familiar to college football fans.

Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson and Arizona State's Cam Skattebo helped lead their respective teams to the College Football Playoff and demonstrated the type of versatility and explosive playmaking that surely caught the eye of NFL scouts.

Here is a look at some potential landing spots for each.

TreVeyon Henderson

Henderson brings a little bit of everything to the table as an NFL draft prospect.

He has the speed to hit home runs, the power to pick up short-yardage situations if necessary, the ability to contribute as a receiver and a willingness to help out in pass protection. In fact, he thrived in pass protection at times during his final season at Ohio State.

Given that skill set, there are surely a number of teams that would love to have him on their roster.

Here are a few:

  • Chicago Bears
  • Cincinnati Bengals
  • Kansas City Chiefs

The Chicago Bears bolstered their offense with tight end Colston Loveland at No. 10 overall and are clearly making it a priority to surround quarterback Caleb Williams with talent.

They also improved their offensive line this offseason and hired an offensive-minded head coach in Ben Johnson. Johnson had two elite running backs as the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions and could use another playmaker alongside D'Andre Swift.

Enter Henderson, who can be a third-down back with his pass blocking and catching all while making plays in the rushing attack.

He could also serve as a complementary back for Chase Brown on the Cincinnati Bengals since Zack Moss didn't exactly thrive in that role. And the presence of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Joe Burrow in the aerial attack means Henderson would have plenty of room to exploit on the ground.

The same could be said about the Kansas City Chiefs, as defenses can't commit too many defenders to the box because of Patrick Mahomes.

Henderson would provide important depth after Isiah Pacheco dealt with injury concerns last season. He would also be another home-run threat in a Chiefs offense that will look to return to the Super Bowl next season.

Cam Skattebo

Big 12 Championship Football

There are few players in the entire draft who were more productive during the 2024 college football season than Skattebo.

The Arizona State star ran for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns to go with 45 catches for 605 yards and three scores. He even threw for a touchdown during the Sun Devils' CFP game against Texas and helped carry the program to a Big 12 title with 208 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns in the win over Iowa State in the conference championship game.

Skattebo is the type of headline name who could generate excitement from an NFL fanbase even for a mid-round pick, and here are some teams that could use additional depth at the running back position that may look to draft him:

  • Dallas Cowboys
  • Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Cleveland Browns
  • One of the issues for Skattebo coming into this draft was the depth at the running back position.

Jeanty, Hampton, Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, Kaleb Johnson, Dylan Sampson and Damien Martinez were among the running backs B/R's NFL Scouting Department ranked ahead of the Arizona State star in its latest big board of prospects.

But all it takes is one team to value his versatility, big-play ability and overall physicality that helps him break tackles. His ability to contribute in the aerial attack and bounce off tacklers means he has the potential to be a three-down back at the next level.

While the team that drafts him might not see Skattebo as a surefire starter right away, he brings a high floor and could be an early contributor during his rookie season.
