Travis Hunter Says He Looked for Houses in Jacksonville the Night Before NFL Draft

Andrew PetersApr 24, 2025

Travis Hunter had a feeling he was heading to Jacksonville before he heard his name called on Thursday.

The two-way superstar, selected by the Jaguars after they traded up from No. 5 to No. 2, said he was looking at houses in Jacksonville online the night before the draft.

"I was super surprised, even though I went on Zillow last night and searched up some houses in Jacksonville," he said. "...I just had a feeling Jacksonville was going to try to come get me."

Heading into draft night, it seemed like the Cleveland Browns were going to stay put at No. 2 and take Hunter. Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz reported earlier on Thursday that the Browns were long shots to trade down, but Jacksonville made an offer Cleveland was willing to accept.

That offer was for the Jaguars' No. 5 pick, a second-round pick (No. 36), a fourth-round pick (No. 126) and a 2026 first-round pick. Hunter called Jacksonville's move to trade up "the best decision."

It was a sizable haul for Hunter, but it's not often a player of his caliber comes along. In his final season with Colorado, Hunter hauled in 96 receptions, 1,258 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. On the defensive side, he had 35 tackles, 11 passes defended and four interceptions.

The Heisman Trophy winner was the No. 1 player on the final big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.

In Jacksonville, Hunter will pair well with second-year receiver Brian Thomas Jr. on offense and look to be a steady presence in the Jaguars secondary on defense. It's unclear what his two-way role will look like in the NFL, but his collegiate game should translate well at the next level.
