After coaching Lynch to Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks, Carroll will now hope to find similar success with Jeanty in Las Vegas.

Jeanty told reporters he knew the Raiders were going to select him when general manager John Spytek said during April's annual meetings his son had threatened to leave the Spytek family if Las Vegas passed on Jeanty.

"I am super duper excited ... I gotta shout out Mark Davis, Spytek, Pete Carroll," Jeanty said, per The Athletic's Vic Tafur. "There is lot of history in the Raiders building and I am excited to be a part of that."

Jeanty also reporters he beat Carroll in a basketball shootaround while visiting the Raiders ahead of the draft, according to Raiders.com's Paul Gutierrez.

"That might have sealed the deal," Jeanty said, per Gutierrez.

Carroll wasn't the only member of the Raiders staff and roster celebrating the selection of Jeanty on Thursday night. Running backs coach Deland McCullough, defensive end Maxx Crosby and quarterback Geno Smith all celebrated the pick:

After finishing at the bottom of the NFL in rushing yards per game last season, the Raiders brought in Carroll, McCullough and Smith in an effort to revamp the team's offense.

The addition of Jeanty, who is currently set to enter the fall as a potential RB1, could allow Carroll to build a run-first offense around Smith during their first season in Las Vegas.

Jeanty finished second in Heisman Trophy voting after leading the nation and ranking fourth in FBS history with 2,497 rushing yards in 2024. He was ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect and No. 1 running back available on the final B/R 2025 NFL Draft Big Board.
