Zach BacharApr 24, 2025

The New England Patriots gave Drake Maye some protection on Thursday night, selecting LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Campbell is the latest addition to a revamped offensive line group in New England, as the team signed veteran right tackle Morgan Moses and center Garrett Bradbury in free agency.

Fans were impressed with the Patriots' draft choice, as was New England's quarterback:

Campbell was a three-year starter with the Tigers, earning AP Second-Team All-SEC honors in 2023. He excelled throughout his 2024 campaign, receiving a consensus All-America nod.

The 21-year-old was excited to join the Patriots and new head coach Mike Vrabel after he was drafted.

"That logo speaks for itself," Campbell said, via ESPN's Mike Reiss. "Coach [Mike] Vrabel is a guy I want to play for. I love everything that everyone in that building is about. It's a complete honor to be able to wear this hat right now."

On the latest big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department, Campbell was listed as the No. 1 offensive lineman and No. 7 overall prospect in the 2025 draft class.

B/R NFL Scout Brandon Thorn praised Campbell's prowess in the run game.

"He is an adept run blocker who can secure and create immediate displacement on angle-drive and base blocks with the body control and balance to recover, sustain and finish at a high level," Thorn wrote.

The Patriots are focused on building around Maye, who showed promise as a rookie in 2024 despite getting sacked 34 times in 13 appearances. New England allowed 52 total sacks last season, which ranked No. 27 in the NFL.

The Patriots fortified their offensive line with the addition of Campbell on Thursday.
