
Browns, Texans Trade Late-Round Picks Ahead of 2025 NFL Draft
The Cleveland Browns acquired another fifth-round pick in a deal with the Houston Texans hours before Round 1 of the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday.
The Browns received a 2025 fifth-round pick (No. 166) as well as a 2027 fifth-rounder, according to the team.
In exchange, the Texans received two sixth-round picks (No. 179, No. 216) and one seventh-rounder (No. 255) in this weekend's draft.

The Browns currently hold six picks in the first five rounds of the draft: the No. 2, No. 33, No. 67, No. 94, No. 104 and No. 166 selections.
Cleveland also holds two more sixth-round selections (No. 192, No. 200) for a total of eight picks in the draft.
The Texans meanwhile increased their own draft stock to nine total picks, including the No. 25, No. 58, No. 79, No. 89 and No. 179 selections.
Before deciding how to use their new late-rounders, both franchises will be focusing on what to do with their first-round selections on Thursday night.
The Browns have been tied to former Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter with the No. 2 pick, but ESPN's Peter Schrager recently reported Cleveland has received multiple calls regarding a potential trade for the pick.
If general manager Andrew Berry decides to increase the Browns' overall draft stock, he could trade down and allow another team to snag the cornerback/wide receiver.
The Texans are one of the teams looking to move up in the draft, The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on Thursday afternoon. General manager Nick Caserio could potentially look to use some of his newly acquired picks to put together another draft-day trade.
Round 1 of the 2025 NFL draft begins Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET. The Tennessee Titans, who recently announced a plan to stick with the No. 1 pick, will be the first team on the clock.
